How to Use Failures and Limitations to Fuel Your Business Ventures

 February 19, 2017

Failures and limitations are negative things.

But if you look at them from another perspective, you can use them to fuel your business ventures to achieve success.

Let’s start with Limitations

I already talked about overcoming the limitation of time and money in achieving your goals.

As I already said in those posts, the methods I showed are not the easy way.

But do you know that there’s also “beauty” in having limited time and money?

Let me talk about having limited time.

We usually complain whenever we have a very limited time in building our business.

But the good thing about having limited time is that, you’ll be forced to become productive because you don’t have any time to waste.

You’re aware that if you’ll not work on a specific task, you don’t have any other time to do it.

The result?

You’ll do whatever it takes to maximize the limited time that you have.

And you might be thinking, “Ah, I wish I have a lot of time to do this for me to finish more task.”

But do you know that having a lot of time can also make you very unproductive?

Yes it does!

If you have plenty of time, it’s so easy to just relax and just push your task for the next day or so, because well, you have a lot of time anyway…

… Only to find out that when the next day arrives, you’ll push your task again for the next day… and it continues until you’ll become lazy and not continue your project.

Trust me, this happens to a lot of people out there.

So if you have a limited time, stop complaining about it.

Rather, take advantage of it for you to become productive.

The same is true with having limited money.

If you don’t have a BIG fat budget to burn, you’ll not just use your money for useless things.

Because you have a business venture, you’ll maximize what you have to fund your business.

And because you don’t have a lot, you’ll be pushed to strive more to reach your goals.

I already told you my story about how I created my first online course every 4AM and it became successful.

And then after some months, I now have plenty of time and budget.

We finally found a care center where we can drop our little girl while I can work on my business for the whole day at home.

I’m also making good income online and things became easy.

While everything was good, I realized I became somewhat lazy and my online business became stagnant.

So by the end of December last year, I decided to push myself further by aiming for the next level.

I then purchased a $2000-course and began acquiring more expensive yet a lot better tools for my online business.

My monthly bills online surged so high that my wife began asking what are those costly things I’m paying every month.

But I really want to challenge myself and the investment is really worth it.

It feels like when I was still starting out that I’m pushed to maximize my time and investment to bring my business to the next level.

So again, limitations are not always negative.

You can use them to fuel your productivity.

Now, let’s talk about Failures

When we fail, it’s a human nature to get discouraged.

I know because I also experienced lots of failures and had a BIG one in 2015.

From 2012 to 2014, life was fine as I was having regular video creation Gigs from both offline and online.

I kept on thinking of creating my own course online but… well, I’m not really doing it.

But in 2015, we got scammed and had a HUGE debt.

I got depressed that I no longer know what to do.

But I have a one-year-old (at that time) daughter to raise and I can’t just give up.

I then decided to do what I’ve been planning to do for a long time – create an online course.

So I had a chat with a friend and asked him if he want to join me in creating a basic internet marketing course and then sell it locally.

We didn’t have a very good environment and equipment back then and recording the training videos was not easy.

It took us some time to finally finish the course and then finally released it.

We were so excited and had a lot of expectations but well, it didn’t turn out so well.

We just did a few sales and it was a failure.

I was so frustrated but again, I can’t just give up because our family needs to survive and we can’t ask help from anyone.

So I planned again and this time, I decided to create a course on a topic I’m really good at – Videos.

I then made a schedule and woke up at every 4AM in the morning to record the training videos… and rest is history.

It was my very first GREAT success online!

So looking back, if we were not scammed big time in 2015, I might not have ever started to create an online course.

So while the experience was really bad, I’m still looking at it at the bright side.

Because of it, I was forced to push through my dream of earning good from online courses.

The time I’m writing this, I released 3 successful courses so far and I’m currently creating my next BIG one.

Failed and Limited?

So if you experienced failures and currently has lots of limitations right now, don’t cause these things for you to give up on achieving your goals.

Rather, use them as a fuel to work on your business ventures.

Going back to my experience, if we were not scammed BIG time back then, maybe I’m still where I once was – making just fine from video gigs.

It’s funny but I’m kinda thankful that we got scammed before so that I was forced to pursue my dreams of making money by releasing online courses.

I’m also thankful of my very limited time back then (only 2 hours per day) to work on my course because I was forced to become really productive.

And even if I now have more time and budget to work on my online business, I always go back to those experiences, for me not to go easy on things.

So if you failed and you are now limited by many things, congratulations, you just got a “fuel” to achieve your goals!

  1. Thank you for a personal insight into the steps you are taking towards success for you and your family. Your life experience is a good example of persistence from which others may learn and profit.

Calvin Coolidge is credited with this observation on persistence:

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

I believe that many people misunderstand what can be learned from both failure and success. “Success, wrote Winston Churchill, “is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. He also said: “Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”.

A final thought on the relationship between success and failure from Shah Rukh Khan I find inspiring: “Success is not a good teacher, failure makes you humble.”
